Personal Track Interpretation

“A New Hope”

The original concert suite of "Princess Leia's Theme" has grown to become my favorite piece of STAR WARS music, and I had previously included the entire track in the original Symphony for a Saga. After revisiting the prequel trilogy, I realized how successful the edit of "Duel of the Fates" was. I decided to try tweaking my favorite theme.

Here, “A New Hope" begins with an extended opening to the "Princess" theme. The subtle strings and peaceful flute should communicate the beauty of Princess Leia. But more than beautiful, the Princess is a complex character, and filled with strength, as shown when her theme swells to crescendo.

Our knowledge of the Skywalker family has changed dramatically in the last thirty years. The transition from Leia's strong theme to Luke Skywalker's heroic "Main Title" theme clearly expresses the link between the two. Remember, it is fate and the Force which ring these twins together again, for they truly are "A New Hope".

This piece ends with a short delivery of the "Rebellion" motif, showing these characters are linked in their struggle to defeat the Empire and bring freedom to the galaxy.

This track is a special edit of these themes, which does not appear in the final cut of the film's suite.
